Silk Shirt Pattern and Sample Development
LuxoSilk makes silk shirts for brand collections at its independently operated factory in China. Your reference shirt or tech pack guides the pattern and sample. Changes in fit affect the collar, shoulder line and buttoned front, so these are developed together.
Collars, Sleeves and Shirt Details
Shirt shape, finished measurements and construction details are defined for each size in your range.
Collar Shape
Turn-down or stand collars in your chosen height, width and neckline shape, for open or fully buttoned wear.
Shoulder Position
Custom shoulder width and seam position, based on the shoulder line in your drawing or reference shirt.
Body Fit
Custom chest, waist and hem dimensions with room to move. Finished shirt measurements are specified separately from body measurements.
Sleeves and Cuffs
Long or short sleeves in your specified length and opening width; long sleeves also have a custom cuff shape and closed measurement.
Front Opening
The placket is the strip carrying the front closure, with custom width, button spacing and first-button position.
Fabric and Finish
Weave, momme and color specified together, with embroidery, labels and care requirements included in the complete shirt sample.
Turn-Down and Stand Collars, Long and Short Sleeves
Either collar can be paired with long or short sleeves and a relaxed or slim fit, made to your measurements.

Relaxed and Slim Fits, Collar to Cuff
Relaxed and slim patterns can be developed from your size chart or reference shirt. A relaxed fit involves shoulder width, armhole and sleeve proportions as well as chest width.

Custom neck measurements and collar dimensions for a shirt worn open or fastened. - Shoulder and Armhole
Shoulder seam position and armhole room affect forward reach. A wider body alone cannot correct a tight shoulder or armhole. - Body and Hem
Custom chest, waist, hem width and shirt length for tucked-in wear, untucked wear or both. - Sleeve Balance
Custom sleeve lengths measured from the agreed starting point, with opening width and long-sleeve cuff position suited to the wearer.
Plackets, Buttons and Embroidered Details
Placket width, button size and spacing, and embroidery can be customized together. Buttons and their attachment must suit the buttonholes and lightweight silk.
- Placket Proportions
Placket width and fastening positions follow your drawing. The closed front should align on both sides and lie smoothly. - Button Materials
Shell, resin, metal or horn buttons, subject to suitability for the design and selected silk. Material, diameter, thickness and weight are specified together. - Buttonhole Fit
Buttonhole size matched to the actual button and fabric layers. - Embroidery and Labels
Your artwork sets embroidery size and distance from a seam. Label positions are specified separately; either detail may show through light-colored silk.
16, 19 and 22 Momme Silk Shirt Fabrics
Shirt fabrics include 16, 19 and 22 momme silk in plain, twill and satin weaves, depending on the specification. Color and weight affect appearance; collar construction and finishing affect shape. The final specification is based on both a swatch and a garment sample.
- Fabric Weight
Momme measures fabric weight. Weights can be compared within the desired weave; heavier silk alone does not mean a crisper collar, better fit or wrinkle resistance. - Color and Coverage
Color is approved on the actual silk. Additional layers at the placket or collar can change how sheer those areas look compared with the body. - Collar Feel
The chosen silk and construction determine whether the collar feels soft or more defined. They need assessment together, since a photograph cannot show the feel. - Care and Finished Appearance
Care instructions and required checks are agreed before production. The complete sample is assessed for dimensions, collar shape and seam appearance after that care procedure.
Plain Weave, Twill and Satin
Plain, twill and satin are different fabric structures rather than fibers or quality grades. Samples at your chosen weight and color show which surface suits the shirt.
Plain-Weave Silk
Plain weave has a simple interlacing structure and a relatively even surface. Swatch texture and transparency matter especially for pale colors or single-layer designs.

Twill’s diagonal lines can become part of the design, depending on their scale and direction across the collar and front.

Satin has a smooth, lustrous face, with sheen that varies by color. The finished sample shows how seams, buttonholes and embroidery look on it.

Shirt Construction and Quality Checks
LuxoSilk handles cutting, sewing, collar shaping, buttonholes, button attachment and pressing. We inspect dimensions, shoulder balance, collar symmetry, the placket and fastenings against the approved sample. Agreed care checks cover the complete shirt: differences between fabric, thread and reinforcing materials can affect seam appearance.

Plain, twill and satin weaves give silk shirts different surfaces.
16, 19 or 22 Momme Silk
Shirt options include 16, 19 and 22 momme silk in plain, twill or satin weaves. The available weave and weight are agreed before sampling. Momme measures weight; a swatch shows drape and feel. Higher momme alone does not mean a better fit or finish.

6A describes silk grade. “Slip” needs a specific fabric reference for comparison. Weave, weight and finish shape the feel, so a swatch tells more than the label alone.

OEKO-TEX and Sustainability
LuxoSilk works to reduce cutting waste and sort offcuts by material. OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 covers testing for harmful substances within the certificate’s scope. Certification for a project depends on the selected materials and valid documents.
